The Wisdom of Ignorance 6/25/2019

Knowledge is gathered information over time; which may be useful in altering the outcome of present and future events. Knowledge is power. With great power comes great responsibility. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge. If “ignorance is bliss,” it is only by way of being a lack of power. To be “blissful,” by these terms, is to be free of responsibility.

True freedom is being able to act upon one’s desires at will without resistance. Wisdom is the situational application of relevant knowledge. The power to freely act on any matter of knowledge’s potential can only be unlocked by wisdom. Proper use yields the power of predicting the outcomes of actions and allows one to adjust according to their desires. This freedom also, however, allows the ability to ignore the responsibility of negative consequences caused by unwise, unjust, selfish or even no use of power.

Fundamental beliefs of self-identity held in the mind, called “morals,” regulate the appropriation of wisdom. Some believers are taught through culture and history while others are learned through natural observation and internal reflection. Some are rooted in universal truths and love while others are based on lies and hate. On these give and found pillars of belief, the individual determines their relationship with the world around them; which provide the initial internal reflections to actions.

The order of events that are experienced across a lifetime in combinations with natural reflections of the individual’s soul create the perspective from which knowledge is received. Consistencies, comparisons and contrasts in perspective determine more inner truths of the outer world over time. With each new experience, one’s perspective may change a moral belief altogether, alter the expression or simply ignore the stimulus. Morals are used to justify what wisdom to use and at what level of execution according to present circumstance. As every perspective is uniquely built, so is each moral compass pointing in one’s individual direction.

If the nature of an individual’s soul is amoral, apathetic to others’ circumstances, or if life events skew the mind towards selfish wisdom, the individual may not bother to consider others when using their power. Some would call this one “mean” or “bad.”

Sympathetic individuals are bound to selfless responsibility by their nature; for the pain and joy of others is their own, thus connected to their desires. Some would call this one “kindhearted” or “good.”

Empathetic individuals must especially consult their moral base when pursuing desires to better prioritize considerations of others over their own. Some may call this one “thoughtful” or even “stingy.”

One is not always expected to understand or agree with the reflections from others. Some encounters are just experiences for future considerations.

There is an infinite spectrum of truth, knowledge, perspectives, moral standings, souls, and wisdom to experience. The task of keeping up with all of these considerations can be petrifying upon the vastest exaggerations to the most minute of concerns. The ability to even consider such an array of knowledge is completely determined by the individual’s willingness to retrieve, process, accept and/or retain information as it comes along.

In determining one’s degree of accepted responsibility, one must…

  1. Decide the relationship between one’s morals and situational perspective
  2. Search inside to understand the nature of one’s soul for true desire
  3. Consult the presently accumulated wisdom for guidance in action.

Those who would rather not go through these processes are simply exercising their understood freedom not to do so. They use the valid wisdom, “ignorance is bliss,” to relinquish the chore of constantly exercising consideration in action. Where there is no knowledge, there can be no thought. Where there is no thought, there can be no consideration. Where there is no consideration, there can be no fear or guilt in action. Every moment is as minimally perfect as it could be. Relinquished in tandem is the ability to act effectively toward one’s own desires. Furthermore, those who choose ignorance are not protected from the consequences of inconsiderate inaction. By not being aware of the factors involved, outcomes are more dependent on the actions and desires of others; only able to consider limited knowledge in decisions.

Ignorance is neither a terminal reality nor universal in matter. At any given point in life, one may decide to increase the degree of knowledge and/or responsibility of wisdom on any matter for whatever conceived desire. One may even change the nature of their soul by increasing perspective.

In truth, not one person is required to take on the responsibility of their knowledge power. The wisdom journey is reserved for those whose souls desire true freedom through power over actions. Wisdom is bliss. Living knowledgeably in moral consideration towards true desire.
